Tempest: The Trilogy

Europe, distant future. A meteorite impacted on the East Europe, emmiting a strange radiance to a large area. The people exposed to the radiance and their offsprings gained inhuman endurance, but started to be born with handicaps and oddities. The irradiated area, known as "The Dead Zone", was isolated from the outside world and the irradiated people, known as The Castaways, built their own civilization.
Several years laters, the hunters from the outside world started to raid the Dead Zone, capture the Castaways, transport them to the outside world and sell them for a price according to their condition and deformities. Those who buy them usually make them Champions - they surgically and genetically enhance their body using various implants, prothesis and serums, train them in martial arts and then make them participate in "Neoclash", Europe's most popular sport where the Champions fight in enclosed arenas much like human wrestlers. Neoclash is played on many levels, from illegal street fights to huge championships with millions of viewers.
The story follows Ryan Bridger, a young sciencist who makes a breakthrough discovery which can gain him eternal fame and help the humankind. There's only one problem left - he doesn't have money to make the necessary tests and demonstrations to prove his theory right. He has only one option left - to buy a Castaway and train them as a Champion who will eventually make him a fortune. Due to his limited resources, he ends up buying a malnourished, one-legged teenage Castaway girl named Zoya. At the first glance, she doesn't look like Europe's greatest fighter, but her strong will and passion are a force to be reckoned with. Ryan and Zoya's race to achieve greatness starts. Does Zoya have what it takes to become the ultimate Champion? And what consequences will Ryan's discovery have?
